Costa Mesa Employment Lawyer

Costa Mesa is where our office is. The city has a Superior Court facility of its own, but it does not hear employment cases — those go to the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.

The local courthouse does not hear employment cases

This trips people up. The city’s Orange County Superior Court facility is the Costa Mesa Justice Complex at 3390 Harbor Boulevard, and under the Court’s Designation List it handles probate, mental health, and elder abuse and dependent adult abuse restraining orders.

Federal claims go to the Southern Division courthouse, which is also in Santa Ana.

Working in Costa Mesa

The city’s employment base runs to regional retail and shopping centers, arts and performing arts — the City Council adopted “City of the Arts” as the official motto in 1984 — restaurants and hospitality, corporate offices and professional services, and single-tenant light manufacturing.

Retail and restaurant work produces the wage-and-hour issues you would expect: scheduling, meal and rest periods during the busiest hours, and final paychecks after seasonal roles end. Office and professional roles more often raise salaried misclassification questions.

Every claim has deadlines, and some are short. We go over yours in the first conversation.
